In an extraordinary display of logistical expertise, India’s Express Global Logistics (EXG) recently executed the astonishing transport of colossal modules for a groundbreaking green hydrogen initiative in Saudi Arabia. The project involved meticulously moving 14 gigantic structures, each tipping the scales at up to 250 tonnes, measuring 50 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 18 meters high—culminating in a total of approximately 1,500 freight tonnes.
EXG expertly employed cutting-edge Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) from their highly specialized Megaload fleet. This involved deploying 48 axle lines, two power pack units, and custom-engineered spacers, facilitating the seamless movement of the modules. The team chose a roll-on roll-off (RoRo) strategy for eight of the modules, enabling smooth vessel loading with ramp plates and stools and ensuring balanced distribution through meticulous ballasting.
The other six modules required precision handling, utilizing SPMTs to transfer them to a jetty, where crawler cranes executed their expertly planned lifting. This demanding operation proved EXG’s capability to overcome unique transport challenges using strategic equipment and implementation.
In January 2023, EXG strategically allied with the Italian logistics giant Fagioli, launching a joint venture, Megaload. This partnership has expanded their expertise and capacity, offering innovative lifting solutions in various industrial domains, including petrochemical and construction.
