Salud Pública

Salud Pública, or Public Health, refers to the branch of healthcare that focuses on protecting and improving the health of populations through organized efforts and informed choices. It encompasses the prevention of diseases, the promotion of health, and the prolongation of life through the organized efforts of society, organizations, public and private, communities, and individuals. Key components of public health include epidemiology (the study of disease distribution and determinants), biostatistics, health services, environmental health, social and behavioral health, and health policy.

Public health initiatives often involve education campaigns, policy-making, surveillance of health trends, and the development of health regulations. The ultimate goal of public health is to enhance the quality of life by preventing health problems before they occur and ensuring access to healthcare services for all community members, thereby reducing health disparities.
