Congreso de Estados Unidos

The “Congreso de Estados Unidos,” or the United States Congress, is the legislative body of the federal government of the United States. It is a bicameral institution consisting of two chambers: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Congress is responsible for making federal laws, regulating commerce, declaring war, and overseeing the federal budget, among other duties. Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms, while Senators serve six-year terms. Each state is represented by two Senators, while the number of Representatives for each state is based on its population. Congress meets in the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., and plays a critical role in the functions of democracy, including the approval of bills, conducting hearings, and serving as a check on the powers of the executive branch.
