Alejandro Mayorkas

Alejandro Mayorkas is an American attorney and government official who serves as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Appointed by President Joe Biden, he is the first Latino and immigrant to hold this position, having emigrated from Cuba as a child. In his role, Mayorkas is responsible for overseeing national security, immigration policies, border security, and disaster response. His background includes previous roles as Deputy Secretary of DHS and as the head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Mayorkas has been involved in various initiatives and policies aimed at addressing immigration reform, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism.
